What if the world only had one flavor of ice cream? Would we appreciate freewill and choice?
Ice cream shop.
A table that acts as a counter.
Doug—A confused man with a taste for something else
Pat—A dedicated employee who pushes only one flavor. Could wear a white shirt and an apron. Maybe one of those ice cream scooper hats.
This can be done with no props, the action all done in pantomime.
Scripture Reference: Genesis 2:9-17
God gave us freewill. Freewill gives us the choice to sin. We like choice because it gives us variety, but we hate choice because it leads to sin.
Just as life with only one ice cream flavor would get boring, so would life with only one choice – love God. We must have an alternative option to loving God – to sin – in order for us to truly show our love to God, to choose Him over every other option.
That’s what happened in the garden. Freewill there pointed to so many trees to choose from, but Adam and Eve had to choose the one tree God told them not to choose. It’s a side effect of freewill (the wrong choice), but choice is necessary to truly show our love for God.
FREEWILL, CHOICE, SIN, OBEDIENCE.
