PURPOSE:
When husbands and wives fight, they shouldn’t play by the rules of the world.

LOCATION:
Living room.

CHARACTERS:
Husband – bitter and ready to battle, wearing casual attire
Wife – bitter and ready to battle, wearing casual attire
Male Cornerman – the husband’s coach, wearing workout clothes
Female Cornerman – the wife’s coach, wearing workout clothes

PROPS:
2 chairs, 2 water bottles, 2 towels, 2 buckets

TIME:
4-5 minutes

PRODUCTION NOTES:
Make sure the Cornermen sit and listen without reacting at the beginning.   The audience must see them and wonder what they are doing there.  Then after the bell sounds and the husband and wife return to their corner, that’s when they jump into action.  This will create a laugh as we realize why they are there.  Have the husband and wife arc from energized to defeated.  The fight should be heated, then when they sit in their corners, they drop their anger to take a break.  The advice from the cornermen must make them realize how much fighting hurts the other person.   The Male Cornerman could do his impression of Burgess Meredith from Rocky.  The Husband and Wife should act normal, like every day people.
A SFX: Bell is needed.

THOUGHTS:
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 4:17-19, 26-27; 5:22-33
The way we fight in the world is different than the way we fight in a marriage.  Fighting in the world is about winning.  Fighting in marriage is to air each other’s views in order to bring about a resolution.
Our friends will divide us up and tell us what to do, but we must be able to discern the worldly from the holy advice we receive.

THEME:
MARRIAGE, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, FIGHTING.
